When would I need a root canal?
As the name suggests, root canals are designed to treat the root of the tooth. This can be needed when an untreated cavity or infection becomes severe and reaches deep within the tooth. While a truly severe case may require tooth removal, this can often be prevented with a root canal. Signs that you may need a root canal include toothaches, sensitivity, discoloration, tenderness or swelling.
What is the process like?
Without going into too much graphic detail, Dr. Hall will create a passageway to the root of the affected tooth, allowing the removal of the infected materials. The passageway will then be filled in with synthetic material and covered by a permanent crown.
