Root Canals

The main function of a root canal is to help save and repair a tooth suffering from an infection or high degree of decay. They have developed a bad reputation as a painful and torturous procedure, but dentistry has come a long way since the birth of this cliché. At Hall Family Dentistry, our family dentist and team use treatment methods designed with patient comfort in mind, providing you an experience as pain free as possible!

When would I need a root canal?
As the name suggests, root canals are designed to treat the root of the tooth. This can be needed when an untreated cavity or infection becomes severe and reaches deep within the tooth. While a truly severe case may require tooth removal, this can often be prevented with a root canal.

What is the process like?
Without going into too much graphic detail, Dr. Hall will create a passageway to the root of the affected tooth, allowing the removal of the infected materials. The passageway will then be filled in with synthetic material and covered by a permanent crown. Note: If you’re a brave soul that does want to hear the graphic detail, give us a call today and we’d be happy to help!
